This is a wonderful super hardy and long lived penstemon. Dark Towers is taller and has darker foliage than Husker’s Red. The 2-3” pink flowers bloom in midsummer and the foliage retains that deep bronzy red color all season. It also tolerates a fair bit of heat and humidity.
It is also one of the most asked about plants in my garden. Not deer proof, but not their favorite.
