I LOVE hirtas. This was the first red rudbeckia and is still one of the most beautiful.  It is vigorous and robust growing producing medium sized 3-4” maroon red flowers with dark centers.   It blooms all summer and may even gently send a few babies off for next year (which can easily be transplanted anywhere you choose.  Heat and drought tolerant. Fill in a gap with a few of these and your garden will bloom throughout the summer.
