Aeolus Fountain Pen
Aeolus Fountain Pen
Write a novel, a short story, a birthday card or just a doodle in your journal - fountain pens today are about lifestyle and feel. It need not be any more complicated than that. This pen’s style is modern and as simple as a the wind - a soft summer’s breeze or a winter storm. The lines are simple and straight without particular adornment.
The pen’s black walnut hardwood body contrasts with the light-reflecting chrome finish. Screw threads on the top of the main body bring a distinctly modern feel and allow the cap to be “posted” by threading it onto the end or not - leave the cap resting on the notebook or table - it’s all according to which is the most comfortable feel for the writer.
This pen makes a perfect gift for a lover of times past or a lover of the fine art of expression by putting ink to paper in the most natural of ways, as its been done for centuries, with a fountain pen.
Featuring a chrome cap with clip on one end and a gold and chrome colored medium Irridium Point Germany nib.
Note that the nib may be removed for cleaning and may be replaced with nibs from other manufacturers, (e.g., Bock or Jowo Germany.) All my pens include information on caring for your pen so that you can use them for many years. It is important to know about the nib (see below) because it means your pen represents a long-lasting investment as it can evolve with your writing needs.
The pen comes with a cartridge “converter” for use with an inkwell and may also use international standard size cartridges available at local office supply stores and online. In addition to providing a uniquely tactile writing experience and being particularly smooth writing, an advantage of fountain pens is the possibility to write and draw with a broad selection of ink colors - the better to express yourself. Compared to ballpoint pens that require substantial pressure to allow their oil-based gels to transfer to paper, very little pressure is required to write with fountain pens.
This classically modern styled pen has a "postable" cap that screws onto either end of the pen. Close it to protect the nib for storage or "post" it to the back of the pen if you like the weight and balance this confers or leave it off according to your preferred feel. (Personally, I prefer the top not posted - see photos for both positions in hand.)
When you purchase this pen, you will get:
* a beautiful unique fountain pen worth adding to your collection or to offer as a quality gift
* a modern clean-lined smooth-writing pen that can evolve with your writing needs
* a medium tip Irridium Germany nib
* one standard size ink cartridge converter
* a velvet pouch for storing and wiping clean your fountain pen
* gratitude from a rough-handed artisan who always prefers to write with fountain pens whenever possible
About the nibs: The nib of this pen can be removed (indeed, you may wish to do this periodically to clean your nib and ink feeder if you do not use it often as ink may dry and impede the smoothness of flow) and replaced. This gives you the possibility to find nibs that suit your particular writing preference perhaps more so than the standard nibs supplied by many artisanal pen makers.
Please let me know if you have any questions or if you would like me to replace the standard Medium point nib with another; there will be surcharge for this as nibs can cost from $10 to well over $100 each. Delivery will depend on availability of specific nib selection.
Note also that the paper you use can make a big difference in your writing with a fountain pen - some papers are more suited to fountain pens than others. Contrary to ballpoint pens, fountain pens use liquid ink, which can feather and bleed depending on the paper. Before giving up on a pen that may not write as per your preferences, try different paper. Let me know if you have questions.
